Now that we all need to be extra careful about person-to-person contact, learning to groom your eyebrows yourself with the best product designed for maintaining your brows is one of the smartest decisions you can make, (at least, till it is completely safe to return to your favorite beauty shop).  At Ziba Beauty, we value your health very much and we have decided to offer our Brow@Home Deluxe Kit which comes with a free live brow consultation. You can groom your eyebrows from the comfort and safety of your home with Ziba Beauty’s Brow@Home Deluxe Kit. After you purchase your kit on our website, you will be sent a confirmation email containing the registration link for your free live virtual brow consultation with a Ziba Brow Expert. What will you find in your Brow@Home Deluxe Kit when it gets delivered to you? When your kit arrives, you will find the following items in it: Double Sided Eyebrow Wax Strips Brow Crayon by Ziba Cosmetics The Brow Trio by Ziba Cosmetics The Multi Task Brush by Ziba Cosmetics The Hi-Lite Pearl by Ziba Cosmetics The Conceal Light by Ziba Cosmetics The Finish Wax by Ziba Cosmetics Antibacterial Sanitizing Wipes Why use Ziba Beauty’s Brow@Home Deluxe Kit? Asides the free consultation you get from a top brow expert, here are some of the major benefits of using your kit. The small-sized wax strips are made with ingredients that are safe and gentle on your skin. The Brow Crayon comes in light, medium and dark shades to get the perfect blend. The Brow Trio powder blends easily to give you that perfect shade. The Multi Task Brush is the perfect tool to give you sharp lines. The radiant and creamy formula of the Hi-Lite Pearl pencil blends easily and helps to lift, light, and accentuate your eyebrows. With the Finish Wax pencil, you can stimulate natural hair growth while filling, defining and correcting your brows. The blendable formula of the Conceal Light pencil helps you hide, shade, or correct your brows. Use the Antibacterial Sanitizing Wipes to kill 99.9% of germs on skins and surfaces. How to use the Limited Edition Brow@Home Deluxe Kit You will need to first use the Multi Task Brush and Brow Trio Powder. You will use these tools to create an inner corner, peak and tail on both brows. Then use the Brow Crayon to create an outline of the shape of your natural eyebrow making use of the inner corner, peak, and tail points as your guide. Then, you can use the Multi Task Brush to fill in the shape and the appropriate shade from your Brow Trio. The next thing to do after defining your brow shape is to wax around the shape. Pick up the strip and warm them between your hands. Then, peel the strip apart into two. Next, apply the strip in the hair growth direction. Hold your skin taut then quickly pull off the wax strip in the opposite direction of your hair growth. Repeat this process on the second brow and use the Antibacterial Wipes in your kit to remove excess wax. Things you should be aware of while waxing Please, ensure you do a patch test on the area to be waxed if you have never waxed before. If no irritation occurs after 12 hours, then you can continue with the product. Also, ensure that your skin is dry and clean before you use the wax strips. Remember to always remove the wax strips very quickly using a single motion. Do not pull straight up, rather pull backwards and ensure that you remain close and in parallel with the skin. This will help reduce any discomfort.  Remember that hair that is previously shaved is usually strong and resistant so it is advisable to wait for about two weeks or until the brow hairs are around a quarter of an inch (or half a centimeter) long before you use the kit. Also, note that you should use talc sparingly when you are perspiring or in hot weather.  Tips for clean-up and after-care  Use the antibacterial wipes to remove any excess wax remaining on your skin after using the wax strips. Do note that you might experience high skin sensitivity after first use, though it will decrease with subsequent uses as your hair weakens. You might notice your skin turning pink and spotty after hair removal – don’t worry, this usually disappears under a few hours. However, if irritation persists, kindly discontinue using the product.  The hairs on your brows should start growing again anywhere between two to six weeks depending on how fast your hair grows. You can always reuse your extra strips so make sure you store them flat in their box in a cool and dry location.  Cautions and warnings  Do not use this product on skin that has been treated recently with products containing Accutane, Retinol A, Glycolic Acid or Alpha hydroxy compounds.  Do not use this product on skin that is injured, irritated, sunburned or sensitive.  Do not apply astringents or alcohol on skin before or after waxing.  Make sure you do not sunbathe before or after you wax your skin.  Please note that if you use this product improperly, it may cause bruising, irritation and lifting of the skin. Examples of improper usage include reapplying the product over the same spot more than two times, pulling the strip in an upward motion instead of a backward motion, as well as not keeping your skin taut when you are waxing it.  We made this just for you  We have lovingly assembled the Brow@Home Deluxe Kit just for you to help you with the grooming and maintenance of your brows at home. We have also included a free live video consultation with a top brow expert in this limited edition package, so your eyebrows can have that touch of professionalism.

L.A. COUNTY TO REOPEN MORE RECREATIONAL SERVICES FRIDAY {LA Weekly Interview}

Our CEO, Sumita Batra, was interviewed by LA Weekly to discuss why threading salons should not reopen until it is safe to do so. Ziba Beauty temporarily closed its 14 California-wide studio locations back in late March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will remain closed until safety permits otherwise. Read the full interview transcript below, as posted on LA Weekly by Isai Rocha on June 18, 2020. — Los Angeles County announced that it will be joining other counties in reopening recreational services such as nail salons, tattoo shops, spas, bars, wineries and casinos Friday. Close-contact personal care services have been one of the last businesses to open, as they fell under the “higher risk” category in the reopening roadmap. additional personal care services that will be allowed to reopen include estheticians, skin care and cosmetology services; electrology, body art professionals, microblading and permanent make-up; and piercing shops. Nail salons had been awaiting word for reopening, to the point that a lawsuit was filed against the state of California by the Professional Beauty Federation of California in an effort to reopen businesses in the beauty industry. Not all in the beauty sector are in a rush to reopen, though, as CEO of Ziba Beauty, Sumita Batra, expressed to L.A. Weekly. The eyebrow threading industry is among the services that sees high volumes of customers in close-contact scenarios. Batra said she will hold off on reopening until at least August, as she does not feel it is responsible to do so. “As an expert who has been in this industry for 33 years and stands to lose her entire life’s work, I am telling you it is not safe to come to my industry right now,” Batra said. “I think that’s an important point for the consumer to understand. They have to be very careful about where they go and how close they get to someone when it comes to intimate-touch services.” Public Health has said in its Health Officer Order that its reopening protocols “ensure it is done as safely as possible for employees, customers and residents.” While part of these protocols included that workers wear face coverings, Governor Gavin Newsom announced Thursday morning that all California residents are “required to wear face coverings in public spaces.” As of Thursday, there have been 78,227 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Los Angeles County, with 3,027 deaths. At least 11,499 of those cases consisted of people over 65 years old, while 93 percent of patients who died had underlying health conditions.

How To Take Care of Eyebrows After Threading

Taking care of the skin where eyebrow threading took place is an important step in achieving the best results for your desired brow shape. An alternative to waxing and plucking, threading requires a simple string of twisted thread and skilled hands to remove unwanted facial hair. The piece of string is wrapped around a follicle of hair and then twisted until the hair is pulled out to remove the hair. In terms of brow threading specifically, this technique allows the artist to best control the thread to achieve precise shaping results. Typically, a brow threading service lasts no more than 15 minutes. Full face threading, which usually includes the upper lip, sides, chin, and forehead, can take up to 45 minutes to complete. Is Eyebrow Threading Bad for Your Skin? As with any beauty treatment, there are minimal side effects after an eyebrow threading service. Although generally, the service isn’t painful, you can expect minor side effects which may include the following: Redness This is caused by the removal of the hair itself and is a temporary side effect that naturally fades within a few hours, if not minutes. Sensitivity This is caused by the sensation of the thread removing hair and can be experienced in the form of watery eyes or a sneeze. This sensitivity is also temporary and naturally fades by the time the threading service is over. Tips To Take Care of Eyebrows After Threading Since threading can cause minimal redness and slight skin irritation, it’s recommended to take extra care of your skin immediately and in the days following your threading session. Here are some eyebrow threading aftercare tips you should consider to treat your skin after threading: Ice Cubes Use ice on the threaded area to soothe any puffiness or redness. You can apply ice or any other cold compress immediately after your threading service, and before any of the eyebrow threading aftercare advice below. Rose Water Spritz Spritz your face or treated area with rose water. Since rose water has anti-inflammatory properties, it can help reduce the redness of irritated skin. You can use the spritz throughout the day until your skin is no longer red or sensitive. Aloe Vera Cream A vital step in our Ziba Beauty threading service includes the application of cooling gel to the threaded skin. This gel includes aloe vera, which helps reduce inflammation and redness. At home, you can continue to apply an aloe vera cream to soothe your skin. Tea Tree Oil Part of our suggested skincare tips after threading also includes tea tree oil. If you prefer oils over creams or face spritz, this may be the better alternative for you since tea tree oil also reduces inflammation to encourage skin healing, but in an oil base. Moisturize Hydrate your skin as much as possible. As part of your daily and/or nightly beauty routine, apply a moisturizer that does not contain perfume or alcohol, since these can deter your healing process and cause more irritation. Don’t Exfoliate Proper exfoliation is necessary in a beauty routine in order to remove dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncover fresh new cells below. However, we highly suggest you not exfoliate at least 24 hours after your threading service, to avoid any unnecessary irritation. Avoid the Sun Many people experience sun rashes naturally, which results in a red, itchy rash when exposed to too much sunlight. Therefore, we suggest you not increase your chances of further irritating your skin by avoiding direct sunlight altogether. Sunscreen If you do not typically use sunscreen as part of your daily beauty routine, we suggest you begin to incorporate one with least SPF 30– especially in the days post your threading service. This will add a layer of protection against harmful UV rays that could add irritation to your skin. Ziba Beauty, Eyebrow Threading Services in California Ziba Beauty is considered the pioneer in the threading category, having introduced threading to the U.S. in 1988. Poonam and Priyanka: Brows, Culture + Their Journey to 1 Million

Poonam and Priyanka Shah are on a personal journey to expand their already-massive social media following. On Instagram alone, their followers reach is at 196k+. As for YouTube, where it all began for the dancing duo, the twins hope to increase their 284k+ subscribers to 1,000,000 through a special docu-series called “Journey to 1 Million.” But as these social media influencers put it during a sit-down conversation with us at our Ziba Beauty studio in Downey, CA, numbers can be deceiving.  The viral internet sensations who’ve made an online impact through their unique Indian-American dance fusion videos talked to us about the reality that goes into building a sustainable online brand– and how their Indian culture has shaped their identity and careers. Growing Up Chicagoan-Indian-American Not allowed to watch mainstream American television, Poonam and Priyanka grew up admiring Indian commercials. When they lived in Chicago, they rehearsed them repeatedly over the phone to their grandmother. Being able to identify with the Indian actors and dancers they saw on television pushed the twin duo to appreciate the arts altogether. “The Indian community in Chicago gave us a platform at a young age,” says Priyanka. “The Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago and Diwali shows, that’s where it all started for us.” Their big break, however, came years later as contestants on Season 9 of India’s top celebrity dance show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa: India’s Dancing with the Stars. From their participation in that reality show contest, they were able to secure numerous dance deals and media coverage. But although Poonam and Priyanka are enjoying their spot in the limelight, they also want to show all the work that goes into building a profitable online brand. “We’re first-generation U.S. born,” says Priyanka. “Our parents are straight from India, came [to the U.S.] 30-40 years back and didn’t have enough to eat. They used to scrub toilets in hotels!” Growing up with that type of work ethic is what the sister duo attribute to their own personal success. They both graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s College with a degree in business and are passionately chasing their dreams of dancing, acting, and inspiring others to #liveyourbestlife. But growing up as first-generation Indian American wasn’t always easy for them. Poonam and Priyanka recall being amongst only a handful of Indian kids in their Chicago community. Their lunches, which were always home-cooked Indian leftovers, stood out amongst their schoolmates’ lunched sandwiches and brand-known snacks. “Many times, we felt like oddballs,” said Poonam. “We felt like we didn’t belong.” Back then, Poonam and Priyanka struggled constantly with not feeling American enough because of their Indian customs and traditions. But as they learned to become centered in their entire cultural identity, they began to embrace all that is them. “We’re Indian and we’re American,” says Poonam. “Our dancing is a metaphor for who we are as individuals because we combine hip hop with Indian dance. There’s no separating the two.” Brow Service: Sisters. Not Twins. Speaking of separating the two, we asked the sisters what set’s them apart the most. Their answer: their brows and personality. “My personality is laid back and my eyebrows reflect that,” says Poonam. “I like my brows as natural as possible, almost minimalist but classic and elegant.”  Priyanka, on the other hand, refers to herself as being the most aggressive of the two. “I like my eyebrows to be bolder and darker,” she states. “Still feminine, but strong!” Journey to 1 Million Currently on their focus plate is their YouTube docuseries “Journey to 1 Million,” where Poonam and Priyanka document the ambiguous journey of getting from 100k to 1M subscribers on the video platform. “We wanted to uncover our journey, to show all the ups and downs of being a full-time social media influencer. Many think it’s a fluff career, but, really, it’s hard work that requires resiliency,” said Priyanka. In one episode, you see the sister act discussing how although some influencers can earn thousands of dollars per post, that reality is not the same for many social content creators– themselves included. In another episode, Poonam and Priyanka struggle with finding the answer to whether or not they are celebrities themselves. “It’s important to show this type of content because people think success comes so easy,” says Poonam. “But, in reality, everything is going to be a process and everything is going to be a journey”. Are you a Ziba Beauty client who is also on a journey to create a lasting change in your community and in the lives of those around you? If so, we want to hear from you. Rethinking What It Means To Be An Influencer

“You impact everyone around you and you never know to what level.” When we approach Candice Amundson, she’s sitting in the lobby of our Ziba Beauty studio in Arcadia, CA waiting for her Beauty Artist, Darius, to take her turn. Candice stands out. She’s the only one in our lobby striking up conversations with fellow patrons. “That looks so good on you!” she says to a young girl referring to the girl’s winged eyeliner. A few seconds later, Candice is overheard on her phone convincing her mom to “come down!” and get her brows done with her. Candice is seemingly fun, quirky, and has Southern-belle twang to her that makes her all the more approachable. “I’m always waving to people and [my friends] are always like “You know them?” and I’m like, “No. You just smile at them and you wave and there’s a new friend,” she shares. According to Candice, she truly enjoys making people smile. Her logic behind that habit is that some people she comes across might be going through hardships and that her smiling at them might make their day all the better. Aside from dishing out compliments and smiles, Candice also enjoys getting dressed up to hang out with friends and often styles herself to reflect her mood. “Even my brows get done according to how I feel,” she says. “Sometimes, when I’m in a casual mood I’ll draw them in light but when I’m ready to get the day I draw them in bolder and sharper.” Candice calls it as she sees it. When asked about what she thinks it means to be an influencer, she doesn’t hold back. She’s not content to the rules that position certain people as being influencers and thinks that everyone is an influencer, but they just don’t realize it yet. As part of Ziba Beauty’s New Age Influencer, Candice opened up about how she first realized the life-saving impact she has on people and how her connection with her authentic self shows up in all aspects of her life, including her eyebrows. Direct Influence “One of my closest friends was going through depression when we first met and I didn’t know it,” explains Candice as she confides with us the details about her friend’s battle with depression. “Eventually she opened up to me about it and told me that I changed her life by just me being me.” If you met Candice or even shared the same breathing space with her for a few minutes, you’d quickly understand how that would be the case. She laughs at her replies during our conversation and often catches herself being more than honest. “I can’t believe I just said that!” she says after telling us she likes her eyebrows thick because she’s thick. We quickly got the sense that Candice is the type of friend with who you’d belch out your favorite songs while riding in the car on your way home from a guilt-free shopping spree. Judging by her impeccable makeup, she’d also be that friend we ask to do our makeup for a special occasion. And going by what she shared with us about her friend’s depression and her request to keep the details of that information private, we sense that she’d be the type of friend we’d confide in with our worries and insecurities. “To see how much of an impact I made on one of my closest friends, I think that’s what it means to be an influencer and not even knowing you’re doing it,” she adds. “I don’t think people realize that who you are in your personality is a gift. You might think that you’re just sharing it with the people you know, but [in reality] you impact everyone around you and you never know to what level.” She adds that many people have bought into the idea that you need a huge social following to be an influencer, and that the only way to leave an impression on someone is to have all the “likes” and “comments”. Seeing that sometimes social media follower numbers don’t always translate to tangible influence, Candice is amongst the many who believe that people are ready for real-life authenticity, and not just the trending hashtag (last we checked #authentic was used 10,473,378 times on Instagram). Speaking of authenticity, Candice also shared how– aside from her waving at strangers passing by or handing out compliments freely– her eyebrows also play a role in her remaining authentically her. “My brows are thick and I’m thick, so it kinda goes together,” she says comparing the curves of her eyebrows to those of her body. “God made them that way!” She goes on to add that her eyebrows also reflect her moods. The day before we spoke was a chill day for Candice, which for her that meant her eyebrows should be lightly filled and slightly arched. “And today?” we asked. “Today my eyebrows are in the mood to get work done and to get it done with confidence!” Her eyebrows today are deeply filled and arched to the highest. Candice inspired us on many levels. She encouraged us to give smiles and compliments freely and to embrace the curves of our bodies. She also encouraged us to continue taking what individuals are contributing to their direct communities as a revolutionary measurement to determine authentic influencer status. The future is in good hands. Ziba Beauty chose three individuals who are paving the way to a better tomorrow. Say goodbye to the tired ways in which we measure influence and hello to our Ziba Beauty New Age Social Influencers, a group we plan on growing for the months to come. Meet Ziba Beauty’s New Age Social Influencers

Redefining authenticity and challenging modern-day influencer status. The future is in good hands. Say goodbye to the tired ways in which we measure influence and hello to our Ziba Beauty New Age Social Influencers, a group we plan on growing for the months to come.   There’s an undeniable power to social media. Numbers of followers and high engagement rates have created a new type of influencer celebrity that is often rewarded either monetarily or with goods by brands hoping to blend their agenda with an influencers’ social community. These social platforms with carefully curated posts of globetrotting, dining at the hippest spots, and wearing the latest fashions serve as a vehicle through which we escape day-to-day life. They broaden our horizons and paint a world seemingly bigger (and better) than our own. But in the spirit of authenticity (which is a word that’s been tossed around heavily in the digital scape and that made its way into serving as a topic of conversation at Ziba Beauty headquarters), we have to admit that tapping into the audiences of social media influencers is something we’ve tested as well. Like many brands, we’ve tested how social media influencers could help us spread our brand mission. And although it’s not completely off the table for us to continue this type of digital and widespread connection, we also find ourselves exploring. Ziba Beauty, like many of you, is seeking a different way in which it can authentically communicate its deeper purpose. Although we found our purpose many years ago when we introduced The Art of Threading to the U.S. back in 1988, we find ourselves asking: What’s next? How can we connect more authentically to our community? How can we show up the best version of our brand? And how can we communicate our message more effectively to not just a bigger audience, but to an audience whose values align with ours? Surprisingly, we found the answers in our very own Ziba Beauty studios. Sitting in our studio lobby’s waiting to get serviced by their favorite eyebrow threading artists were Candice, Tatiana, and Poonam and Priyanka, all longtime Ziba Beauty clients and amazing individuals who are finding unique ways to influence their communities, locally and digitally speaking. Enter Ziba Beauty’s New Age Social Influencers One thing is for sure, we plan on adding something unique to your lives, and in what will be the first class of Ziba Beauty New Age Social Influencers, each of the chosen individuals represents a different aspect of that authenticity we seek to highlight. In the case of Candice, she’s a 24-year-old focused on influencing her local community beginning with friends and family. Tatiana is a young Latina who is following her various passions and on her way to becoming a social media influencer by industry standards. Then there’s Poonam and Priyanka, a set of dancer twins who are riding the wave of influencer celebrity status and hoping to continue to grow their massive online community. Regardless of the size of their social following (they weren’t asked about it for the purpose of making our list), these individuals reflect a change we want to see in the world and give us the opportunity to share authenticity converting into true influence. For this series, we’ll be sharing one new story per month. First up, meet Candice. This is her story of influence. Are you a Ziba Beauty client who is also creating a lasting change in your community and in the lives of those around you? If so, we want to hear from you. Upload your story to Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter using #ZibaInfluencer or email [email protected].

Proper Eye Care 101

Before eyebrow threading, brow makeup, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, the whole deal – you should have your eye-care routine down. Why? The eye area is sensitive so you want to make sure you’re doing everything you can to preserve the area, to prevent any irritation or infections and to stop any signs of premature aging. We’re all for the beautiful process that is aging, it’s 100% natural and happens to everyone, we just don’t want it to start before it has to. Also, early instances of fine lines and wrinkles can be a signs that your skin is in need of some TLC. Therefore, taking extra care of your eye area (from brows to cheek) will ensure better results with eyebrow threading and smoother makeup application. So, without any more delay here are some easy tips for taking care of your beloved eye area. Puffy Eyes It happens to the best of us and for a variety of different reasons. Puffy eyes occur from the swelling of tissue around the eye area and can be caused by something like too much sleep OR not enough sleep – ironic, we know. A surefire way to make sure you’re getting enough sleep, is to train your body to wake up and sleep at the same time every day – ensuring that you’re getting the same amount of sleep as well (hopefully around 7-8 hours). Another thing that can cause puffiness is excess salt intake – to help with this, watch what you eat and try to avoid cooking with too much salt. P.S. Fast foods and foods that have been preserved for a long time, are usually high in salt. To temporarily reduce puffiness around the eyes, you can do a number of things, including. Water: Drinks lots of it! Chamomile Tea Bags: This tea contains natural anti-inflammatories that are perfect for reducing swelling. All you have to do is place two used teabags in the fridge until they are cool and then place them on your closed eyelids for 15 minutes. Cucumber Slices: Yes, there is actually a purpose to these! Cucumbers contain natural tannins (excellent antioxidants) that reduce puffiness. Just cut a cold cucumber into thin slices and place on closed lids for 20 minutes. Sun Damage The sun is a huge contributor to issues regarding the eye area – not surprisingly because we’re exposed to it every. single.day. Things like fine lines and milia all worsen with sun exposure, so you should always wear sunscreen in order to minimize the effects of the sun. In addition, on days when the sun is especially bright and during the summer, always wear sunglasses! Specifically sunglasses that block both UVA and UVB radiation, for protection of the skin around the eyes and your retinas. Btw, those teeny 90s sunglasses might be on-trend but they do nothing for your eye health and protecting the eye area. Function > Fashion is our motto when it comes to protecting your body! Fine Lines Like we said earlier, this is going to happen to all of us – we just don’t need to make them any more significant than they would naturally be! As we grow older, dead skin cells build up around the eye area because our cell turnover rate slows down. The skin isn’t able to renew itself as quickly as it does when we’re younger so the skin thins out, the collagen breaks down, which in turn reduces the elasticity in the skin and causes lines. In order to minimize fine lines you can use eye creams and masks that produce cell turnover and help rebuild collagen. There are a ton of new collagen creams and masks on the market so make sure you do your research, to find the best one for you. P.S. the reason it’s always better to apply these products at night is because our cells regenerate while we sleep! Preventing Infections Since the eyes are very sensitive, they are also prone to getting infected easily. Taking these simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of getting an infection and are good for you personal hygiene, in general. Only use creams/ masks/ makeup that are specifically made for the eyes. Avoid touching your eye area as much as possible. Wash your hands often in case you do touch your eye area accidentally. Keep all of your makeup brushes clean and throw away any old/ expired eye makeup. Don’t share makeup, specifically makeup for the eyes with anyone else. Don’t sleep with your makeup on, ever! Sharpen your eye pencils every time you use them – this will remove any bacteria or old germs that may have affected it since your last use. And that’s all the tips we have for you today! We hope you found these helpful and are going to try and incorporate one, if not all, into your daily routine. Eye-care is extremely important and doing all the above (and more) will only make your eyes perform better, for a longer period of time. These tips should also help you understand what products work best with your skin type and help keep the skin smooth for better makeup application! Let us know if you have any other tips and if you’d like to see a part two of this post. Until then, take care, Ziba Beauty xo

Feb Faves 2019 | Ziba Beauty

Is it us or did February just fly by? Maybe it’s because it was a shorter month or it could be that we emulated the meaning of “time flies when you’re having fun!” Tbh it was probably a bit of both, the second one being way more applicable to this post. We had so much fun listening / using / watching / loving things this month, that we wanted to share all the good stuff in a round up called… you guessed it, Feb Faves! Maybe this list will inspire you to try something you haven’t before OR maybe, you have a favorite that’s the same as ours – let us know if we’re soulmates! Now, let’s get straight into it. These are a few of our favorite things…. Can you guess what the first one is? 1.thank u, next – Ariana Grande Yes we, like everyone else, have had this album on repeat in our office and studios. Really though, we can’t get enough of these bops and while to some, it might seem Needy and a situation in which only NASA can help; we say it’s a Bad Idea and are cruising on by singing thank u, next. 2.thank u, next – Ariana Grande Okay okay, so we may have binged this show because it was just. so. good. From the story, to the acting, to the direction, the entire show was executed flawlessly and was mysterious, gruesome and still hilarious in all the right places. We highly recommend watching (when you have very little responsibilities lol). P.S. we’d like to give a special shout out to Jordan Robbins’ brows because they’re perf. 3.Oscar Brows Speaking of Jordan’s brows – we wanted to quickly mention our other brow favorites from this years’ Oscars Ceremony. While there were a ton of great brows out there; these four sets of brows stole the show (especially the last two). Keep scrolling to see what we’re talking about! Also, whose brows will you be showing your Brow Artist for inspo? Tessa Thompson and her naturally natural brows just slayed as usual: Emilia Clarke’s fiercely stunning, bold brows, stood their ground on the red carpet (and could probably take on a dragon or two): And our absolute fave brows(s) go to this gorgeous couple, whose arches had us wowing for days. Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet: 4.Ziba Cosmetics: Finish Wax Pencil You know we can’t do a favorites post without including one of our own products and this month we’ve been reaching for the Finish Wax A LOT. With the “New Year” feels still motivating us, we’ve all been trying to stay on our health game by making working out, a priority. We don’t tend to wear makeup when we exercise but some of us have some pretttyy long brow hairs that can tend to have a mind of their own if they’re not tamed – especially if we’re moving around a lot. Enter; the Finish Wax Pencil. The wax pencil is perfect for working out because it’s not quite makeup and won’t irritate your skin if your face gets at all sweaty. It has a flexible hold that will keep all those brow hairs in place all-day. Plus, you won’t look weird by only having a brow product on because this pencil is 100% transparent! Basically, some of us have resorted to carrying a second Wax Pencil in our gym bags and we don’t plan on changing that any time soon. And those are some of our Feb Faves! Did you have anything you especially loved this month – share them with us! Take Care, Ziba Beauty xo

The Shock of Color | NYFW Fall/Winter 2019 Trends

New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2019-2020, has come and gone. Leaving behind a spectrum of new trends to choose from and a lingering atmosphere of creativity, for anyone looking to revel in it; including us. The clothes showcased on the runways will be talked about for the next few months, especially because of the ongoing controversies surrounding the ideals, that designers are choosing to portray. And whether it is possible to separate the ‘art’ from the actions of the ‘artist’. That being said, we at Ziba Beauty choose to focus on the beauty aspect of Fashion Week, which we think more clearly represents the ideals we want to see on the runway; including diversity, inclusivity and the celebration of talented makeup artists. In this post we’re talking all about the beauty trends we caught in action – specifically, in the eye and brow category! While NYFW isn’t typically known for its beauty looks, things changed this year and we witnessed a certain eclectic edge strutting its way into the limelight. Why? Because if we’ve learnt anything from the explosion of the beauty industry in the last few years, it’s that it holds the power to change the language of the world, by questioning and challenging everything and delivering the product to back it up. It has blurred gender lines and even questions the legitimacy of it and is giving people some much-needed tools for self-empowerment. With that in mind – let’s jump right into our favorite trend from this season. Many of the designers kept their models’ makeup looks relatively minimal, in classic NYFW style. Contrastingly, some designers had the makeup artists employ the full meaning of Fashion Week with what we want to call: The Shock of Color. Yes, believe it or not, we saw more color on the runways this season, than we have in a long time and think it has a lot to do with the current political and social climate. From bright eyeshadows to full-on painted eye masks, there appeared to be nothing short of magic on these particular runways. Not only did we see an explosion of color, but we also recognized a shift of tone/shades in the colors – moving away from the “new nudes” of last year, into a cacophony of bright pinks and pastels as well as earthy greens and deep purples. Plus, the splashes of color extend from the eye area and up through the brows in some looks. Colorful brows anyone?! What does this mean for us beauty lovers? Endless inspiration and the opportunity to get even more creative with our eye looks! To give you oodles of inspiration, here are some of the most dynamic looks we found: The Airbrush Effect | blended pigments and watercolor designs. The Glitter Effect | accenting these avant garde looks. The Neon Diaries | bright splashes of color, bringing the eyes (and brows) to life. Fun Fact: This eye-look was created with just a swipe of lipstick! Who is totally inspired by these Shocks of Color and who thinks they’re never going to get off the runways and onto the streets? Are you going to be coloring in your brows any time soon? We’d love to know your thoughts and if you would try out any of these looks! Either way, the makeup artists all did an incredible job at NYFW and we couldn’t be more in awe of their talent. Talk soon! Ziba Beauty xo

Painting or drawing is an entertaining way to get your creative mind pumping and helps you to use that creativity to solve problems or find new solutions to things going on in your life. For this idea, you can do something as simple as getting a pencil and paper and doodling. However, since it’s Valentine’s Day we wanted to give you another option too: PaintNite.
