6 Winter Skin Remedies You Need To Start ASAP

Winter is here… and it’s no surprise that the colder weather can affect your skin (and not in a good way). We’re here to tell you that it’s time to change-up your self-care routine, to prevent the cold from drying out your skin. Dry skin is not only painful but it can also affect your makeup application, cause itchiness and dull the natural glow of your face. Don’t worry, we have good news! Below are 6 easy and effective remedies for preventing the cold from winning this season and keeping your body and skin’s hydration, on point! #1 Moisturize While Damp Lotions and creams are made to lock-in any moisture on your skin. So it’s only fitting that the best time to moisturize is when you’re fresh out the shower or bath and your skin is the most wet. We know that most people don’t like moisturizing their body in general but we highly recommend it, at least during the winter months. Your body will thank you when it’s not feeling dry, stretched and itchy. P.S. Applying moisturizer is a lot easier and faster to do, when the skin is wet. #2 Invest in a Humidifier One of the things that comes with winter, is dry air. The dry air is what dries out your skin, especially in your bedroom where you spend (at least) 8 hours a night. Our tip is to invest in a humidifier that you can use during winters. A cool air humidifier is a must because it increases the moisture level in the air. We recommend putting it in the place that you spend the most time, in order to maximize the amount of water your skin is getting from the air. Also, try avoiding putting on the heat because this only makes the air dryer. Instead, wrap up in some warm clothes and use lots of blankets! #3 Increase daily intake of good fats YES, there is such a thing as good fats and don’t let Social Media tell you otherwise. How do good fats help your skin? Your skin’s health is affected by everything, even what you eat and good fats are so rich, that they can help with dry skin. Try adding foods such as avocados and walnuts to your diet, as supplemental remedies for winter skin and cook with olive oil as well. Remember though, increasing your intake of fats is a great way to help with dry skin but it does not mean you should skip a proper skincare routine! #4 Exfoliate Try to exfoliate your skin at least once a week during winter. Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells, to reveal freshly buffed skin that can be better penetrated by products. So now, all the goodness from the moisturizers you’re applying, will sink in properly and you’ll be getting the most value out of your products. #5 Switch to Creams The easiest and most overlooked way to help your dry skin during winter, is to switch up your lotion for a cream. Most people try to apply more lotion in order to counteract the dryness of their skin. However, an even better and easier solution is to switch to something heavier, like a cream, which is a lot thicker and therefore more moisturizing and hydrating (so you can use less of it). #6 Drink Water You read that right. We did just say you should drink water for the millionth time and we probably won’t ever stop saying it. The benefits of drinking more water, are tenfold and in the case of winter skin, it’s a MUST. Drinking water is good for you and ESPECIALLY good for anyone with severely hydrated skin. Although there is no scientific study as to how water helps normal skin types, drinking water definitely won’t make it worse and will always help those with dry skin or, those at risk of getting drier skin in the winter months. There you go! Our 6 winter skin remedies to incorporate into your lifestyle asap. Let us know if these work for you and if you have any other suggestions. We’d also love to know if any of you make your own exfoliators and what goes in them! Take Care, Ziba Beauty xo

This is such an easy problem to fix with one helpful item – a reusable water bottle. It sounds simple and you’re probably wondering why anyone would want to receive a water bottle as a gift. Our theory is that you’re actively saying you care for their well-being and want to support them by adding something to their lifestyle that will improve their health significantly – and who doesn’t want to be told how loved they are?! Carrying a cute water bottle around is a sure-fire way of remembering to drink water. One of our favorite brands is S’well, whose bottles come in all shapes, sizes and designs, don’t leak AND can carry hot and cold beverages. P.S. All three of these books are on Barnes and Noble’s best seller list and would make awesome gifts for the food connoisseurs in your life (or even beginners!) The 5 Eyebrow Mistakes You Don’t Even Know You’re Making

When it comes to eyebrows you can easily make mistakes that can change your natural face symmetry, affect your skin, and mess up your makeup look. You don’t want your brows to distract from your natural beauty; in fact, the whole purpose of getting your eyebrows threaded or putting makeup on is to merely enhance what you already have – not change it! Here are our eyebrow tips to remember so you don’t end up sabotaging yourself. Trust us, after reading this you’ll be saying, thank u, next. Eyebrow Mistake #1: Making them identical Do not get sucked into a world where your eyebrows have to be identical. No two eyes are the same, so why should the brows be any different? When you try to make your eyebrows identical, you can end up taking off too much hair or too little. Naturally, your eyebrows are different – so trying to make them exactly the same will also make your brows look fake and harm the natural symmetry of your face. Eyebrows are soul sisters, not twins! Eyebrow Mistake #2: Choosing the wrong-color Brow Crayon   If you have dark hair, you don’t necessarily want to use a dark eyebrow crayon. Use a brow crayon that’s a shade lighter than your actual hair color. It will look more natural when applied because it’ll blend into the brow hair color you have, instead of adding more to the color, therefore making your brows appear harsh. Another tip? If you have highlights, match the crayon shade to the lighter strands of hair, for the most natural looking finish. Eyebrow Mistake #3: Using a magnifying mirror   Magnifying mirrors are great for precise makeup application and they’re also great for seeing if it’s time to get your brows threaded. BUT when it comes to hair removal, magnifying mirrors are not so great. If you HAVE to clean up your brows at home, be an arms-length distance from a normal mirror and use as much natural light as possible. If you view your brows too close-up, you lose perspective on how much hair you’ve already taken off and will keep removing the “tiny hairs” that you actually need, in order to keep your brow shape. Eyebrow Mistake #4: Eyebrow shaping before a shower or bath   If you’re going to bathe close to the time that you’re getting your brows threaded, it’s better to do it before you go to your Brow Artist. It’s no secret that removing eyebrow hairs can hurt – but a steamy shower will open up the pores and soften the brow follicles, so the hair glides out much easier. Bonus: This also helps limit redness and irritation! Eyebrow Mistake #5: Using the wrong product to fill-in your brows When it comes to eyebrow makeup, which mainly consists of filling in your brows, preference and usability of a product is usually the defining factor. While preference is probably based on comfort, what you like is not necessarily what is best for your brows. Shocking right, something we like isn’t really beneficial to us… it’s a human problem, we’ve accepted it. Moving on, the type of eyebrows you have can help you determine which product is best for you. If you only have a few spots where you’re missing eyebrow hairs – then a Brow Crayon is best for creating short hair-like strokes to fill-in those gaps. If you’re new to filling-in your brows or have larger sparse areas, then using a Brow Powder is going to benefit you most. This is because a brow powder gives you more control over where you apply color and the product is easier to blend, therefore creating a softer look. This is especially good for someone who isn’t completely confident in filling-in their brows. Do you have any tips for preventing eyebrow mishaps? Let us know in the comments! Quick Day to Night Makeup Tips for the Busy Girl

Women are masters at making the most of their days. That’s why it’s a no brainer that we say yes to a happy hour after a long day at work, or head to dinner after a killer workout. It’s not FOMO but a ‘seize the moment’ mantra that echoes in our heads and keeps us going. Brilliantly managing and maximizing our schedules leaves little time for makeup touch ups. Luckily, we’ve uncovered a few tips to help you beautifully transition from day to night makeup. To achieve a dewy, natural face for daytime and more a dramatic look for evening, try this easy-to-do makeup regiment. After washing and toning your skin, apply a tinted SPF moisturizer to hydrate and protect the skin. Sweep a loose mineral powder over your face to even out the skin and provide a base for your makeup. Start with the brows. Since your brows frame your face it’s important these two beauties get the attention they deserve from the morning get-go. Set your brows for the entire day with Ziba’s brow pomade duo. The concealer hides any blemishes and defines the shape, while the pomade helps boldly pronounce the brow for a flawless finish. Makeup for the Eyes Once your brows are set it’s time to open and add height to the eye. If you’ve never used an eyelash curler now is the time – it’s one of our favorite morning tricks. Then apply waterproof mascara to avoid unfortunate smudging as the day wears on. Use a light neutral shadow for the lid. To transition into evening, apply a darker shade shadow to define the crease and blend using the neutral color from the morning. Then grab your favorite eyeliner. Use a simple cat eye flick for quick eye transformation, or line the top and bottom lash lines for a smoldering, dramatic effect. Makeup for the Cheeks Neutral hue or rose cheek tints are perfect for daytime wear. They don’t overpower lighter eye and lip shades, and give you a bright, cheery face all day long. Come nightfall, blend a natural bronzer just under the cheekbones to define your facial angles and reapply that rosey tint to your cheekbones. Makeup for the Lips Complete your day look with a soft color or gloss on the lip. Try a neutral lip liner to define your lips and keep your lip color in place for hours. To transition into evening, say yes to color. A dark or bold color instantly transforms your look – and commands attention. Always in a rush? Here’s a helpful tip: Always keep a brow pencil and bold lip shade in your purse. If you’re short on time or forgot your makeup bag, these two essentials are all you need to instantly transition your makeup from day to night.

4 Steps to Standout Eyes

Eyes are the windows to the soul. With a quick glance, wink, flutter or tear, the eyes can reveal your truest emotions. They are also the surest way to relate to another being. Look directly into another person’s eyes as you speak to them, thank them, request help or share a compliment and you will feel a powerful connection. No matter the color, shape or size, eyes are your most beautiful facial feature, which is why we give ours (and yours) a lot of love. Follow this four-step daily routine that makes your eyes standout and be as beautiful as the soul inside: Step 1: Nourish The skin beneath and on top of the eye from lash to brow is thinner than the rest of the skin on your face so it needs special care. We apply a nourishing cream (or oil) around the eye every morning and night to hydrate and nourish the skin while also reversing the signs of aging (ahem, wrinkles). To do this, put a small amount (a dot really) on your ring finger and work the product into the skin by lightly dabbing at the inner eye and working outward, and then above the lid. Avoid wiping or rubbing as this compromises the skin’s elasticity and can cause dark circles and more wrinkles. Looking for a great eye cream? Try one of these: Uma Eye Oil This eye oil is packed with potent botanical extracts that brighten, refresh and de-puff, while leaving little grease (yes, please!). Get it here. First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy AM Gel Cream We love this lightweight gel that smooths and hydrates and wears really well under our makeup. This gel gets its power from rich peptides, red algae, and plant extracts. Get it here. Kate Somerville Goat Milk De-Puffing Eye Balm As skin health expert to the stars, Kate Somerville knows what the skin needs to shine bright on the red carpet. This balm uses goat’s milk to moisturize dry, damaged skin. It’s easy to use morning and night. Get it here. Step 2: Shape If eyes are the windows to the soul, then the brows are the frames to a beautiful painting. Eyebrows have the power to truly transform and balance the face. There are 6 face shapes – square, oval, heart, round, diamond, long – and 4 primary brow types, round, straight, soft angle and sharp angle. Professional brow artists amplify your natural beauty by shaping your brows to frame your eyes and compliment your facial structure (all too often this means growing in brows that have been tortured from years of over-tweezing). We recommend regular brow maintenance and using brow crayons to deepen the color or fill in thin areas. Beautiful brows command attention. Step 3: Conceal Perpetual dark circles and puffiness under the eyes can simply be genetic, but most often they are a signs of stress and exhaustion. You can decrease the appearance of these trouble signs by avoiding caffeine, getting more sleep (avoid sleeping on stomach), and resisting rubbing or itching your eyes. For quick relief, rest for 5-10 minutes with a cool rag, cucumbers, or green tea bags over the eyes. Then, reach for a light concealer to help smooth and brighten the skin. Here are a few we like: • Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer • Milk Makeup Flex Concealer • It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Corrector Step 4: Color Now that you have pampered, prepped, and framed the eyes, it’s time to express your Self. Let your inner artist get creative with your makeup. Go natural, feminine, flirty, or bold. Play with color, shading, and shapes to draw attention to your beautiful eyes – your beautiful soul. A few tips we swear by: Always use the right brush for your eye makeup. You need a crease brush with a firmer and slightly pointed tip to blend color into the crease, and a fluffy, medium-size shadow brush to apply and blend color on the lid. Add height to your brow and open the eye by blending a highlighter just below the brow and above the arch. Use Ziba’s Hi-Lite Pearl pencil to naturally and flawlessly lighten and lift. Dot eyeliner along eyelash line and then connect the dots to help make a straight line or use a liquid liner for a more exact application. Tap or blow excess shadow off brush before applying to avoid fallout on the face (so annoying!). We see beauty everywhere with our eyes, now your standout eyes can be part of the beauty others see.

Fall 2017 Makeup Trends: From Runway to Everyday

A seasonal shift doesn’t have to mean a big wardrobe flip or closet purge. Transitioning your look from Summer to Fall can be as easy as refreshing your makeup bag. This year, Autumn’s most coveted makeup trends play on soft palettes, some bold details, and an updated brow. From the runway, some of the most beautiful looks are channeling the glow of Summer, a throwback to rocker 90s, or a fresh morning face. When it comes to color, Fall is favoring two palettes. One is muted with lilac, peach, and rose. The other is bolder with berry, glitter, and metallic. Take one of these Fall makeup trends and make it your own. After all, true beauty is whatever makes YOU feel more beautiful. Fall 2017 Makeup Trends Dark, smokey eyes never lose their luster, but this season it’s all about creating a subtler look using lighter neutrals like taupe and grey. Instead of smudging with the usual charcoal or black, use a shimmery taupe for a dewy daytime look or get dramatic with a glitter lid or pop of color for a fun nighttime look. Think outside the lash lines by taking your favorite eyeliner to new heights. Float your liner above the eye crease or create a bold stripe of color for a makeup look that’s easy to duplicate from the runway. Have fun with metallics — place a dab at the inner corners, line the eyes, or cover the full lid. This season you’ll see a departure from the perfectly sculpted brow. Instead, fully groomed brows are brushed up. Try this look with natural face and subtle shadow like taupe or silver for daytime, or apply a smudgy liner with a berry lip for a classic evening look. Hello monochrome! We’re loving this simple, yet spot-on trend that’s perfect for every face. Peaches and pinks may feel like Summer shades, but they’re also the perfect hues to brighten and define your beautiful features for Fall and Winter. For this look, we’re going for a natural fresh face with a single shade that tints the lids, cheeks or lips. Heighten your cheekbones with a highlighter for a shimmer that isn’t just for Summer.
