Feb Faves 2019 | Ziba Beauty

Is it us or did February just fly by? Maybe it’s because it was a shorter month or it could be that we emulated the meaning of “time flies when you’re having fun!” Tbh it was probably a bit of both, the second one being way more applicable to this post. We had so much fun listening / using / watching / loving things this month, that we wanted to share all the good stuff in a round up called… you guessed it, Feb Faves! Maybe this list will inspire you to try something you haven’t before OR maybe, you have a favorite that’s the same as ours – let us know if we’re soulmates! Now, let’s get straight into it. These are a few of our favorite things…. Can you guess what the first one is? 1.thank u, next – Ariana Grande Yes we, like everyone else, have had this album on repeat in our office and studios. Really though, we can’t get enough of these bops and while to some, it might seem Needy and a situation in which only NASA can help; we say it’s a Bad Idea and are cruising on by singing thank u, next. 2.thank u, next – Ariana Grande Okay okay, so we may have binged this show because it was just. so. good. From the story, to the acting, to the direction, the entire show was executed flawlessly and was mysterious, gruesome and still hilarious in all the right places. We highly recommend watching (when you have very little responsibilities lol). P.S. we’d like to give a special shout out to Jordan Robbins’ brows because they’re perf. 3.Oscar Brows Speaking of Jordan’s brows – we wanted to quickly mention our other brow favorites from this years’ Oscars Ceremony. While there were a ton of great brows out there; these four sets of brows stole the show (especially the last two). Keep scrolling to see what we’re talking about! Also, whose brows will you be showing your Brow Artist for inspo? Tessa Thompson and her naturally natural brows just slayed as usual: Emilia Clarke’s fiercely stunning, bold brows, stood their ground on the red carpet (and could probably take on a dragon or two): And our absolute fave brows(s) go to this gorgeous couple, whose arches had us wowing for days. Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet: 4.Ziba Cosmetics: Finish Wax Pencil You know we can’t do a favorites post without including one of our own products and this month we’ve been reaching for the Finish Wax A LOT. With the “New Year” feels still motivating us, we’ve all been trying to stay on our health game by making working out, a priority. We don’t tend to wear makeup when we exercise but some of us have some pretttyy long brow hairs that can tend to have a mind of their own if they’re not tamed – especially if we’re moving around a lot. Enter; the Finish Wax Pencil. The wax pencil is perfect for working out because it’s not quite makeup and won’t irritate your skin if your face gets at all sweaty. It has a flexible hold that will keep all those brow hairs in place all-day. Plus, you won’t look weird by only having a brow product on because this pencil is 100% transparent! Basically, some of us have resorted to carrying a second Wax Pencil in our gym bags and we don’t plan on changing that any time soon. And those are some of our Feb Faves! Did you have anything you especially loved this month – share them with us! Take Care, Ziba Beauty xo

The Shock of Color | NYFW Fall/Winter 2019 Trends

New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2019-2020, has come and gone. Leaving behind a spectrum of new trends to choose from and a lingering atmosphere of creativity, for anyone looking to revel in it; including us. The clothes showcased on the runways will be talked about for the next few months, especially because of the ongoing controversies surrounding the ideals, that designers are choosing to portray. And whether it is possible to separate the ‘art’ from the actions of the ‘artist’. That being said, we at Ziba Beauty choose to focus on the beauty aspect of Fashion Week, which we think more clearly represents the ideals we want to see on the runway; including diversity, inclusivity and the celebration of talented makeup artists. In this post we’re talking all about the beauty trends we caught in action – specifically, in the eye and brow category! While NYFW isn’t typically known for its beauty looks, things changed this year and we witnessed a certain eclectic edge strutting its way into the limelight. Why? Because if we’ve learnt anything from the explosion of the beauty industry in the last few years, it’s that it holds the power to change the language of the world, by questioning and challenging everything and delivering the product to back it up. It has blurred gender lines and even questions the legitimacy of it and is giving people some much-needed tools for self-empowerment. With that in mind – let’s jump right into our favorite trend from this season. Many of the designers kept their models’ makeup looks relatively minimal, in classic NYFW style. Contrastingly, some designers had the makeup artists employ the full meaning of Fashion Week with what we want to call: The Shock of Color. Yes, believe it or not, we saw more color on the runways this season, than we have in a long time and think it has a lot to do with the current political and social climate. From bright eyeshadows to full-on painted eye masks, there appeared to be nothing short of magic on these particular runways. Not only did we see an explosion of color, but we also recognized a shift of tone/shades in the colors – moving away from the “new nudes” of last year, into a cacophony of bright pinks and pastels as well as earthy greens and deep purples. Plus, the splashes of color extend from the eye area and up through the brows in some looks. Colorful brows anyone?! What does this mean for us beauty lovers? Endless inspiration and the opportunity to get even more creative with our eye looks! To give you oodles of inspiration, here are some of the most dynamic looks we found: The Airbrush Effect | blended pigments and watercolor designs. The Glitter Effect | accenting these avant garde looks. The Neon Diaries | bright splashes of color, bringing the eyes (and brows) to life. Fun Fact: This eye-look was created with just a swipe of lipstick! Who is totally inspired by these Shocks of Color and who thinks they’re never going to get off the runways and onto the streets? Are you going to be coloring in your brows any time soon? We’d love to know your thoughts and if you would try out any of these looks! Either way, the makeup artists all did an incredible job at NYFW and we couldn’t be more in awe of their talent. Talk soon! Ziba Beauty xo

The Top 3 Reasons You Should Thread VS. Wax Your Eyebrows

For years and years, the most readily available method of shaping eyebrows was waxing, which is why it was also the most popular. Now, as threading has become increasingly popular, it is also more easily found, so now the question becomes which is better – threading or waxing your eyebrows? Though both shaping methods can produce beautiful results, as a company who specializes in The Art of Threading, we decided to ask our brow experts and clients what their top 3 reasons are for choosing the ancient Art of Threading, as their go-to for brow shaping. #1 BEST BROW SHAPE The threading technique gives the Brow Artist complete control and precision of the hair-removal process. The Artist is able to remove a single hair, or line of hairs to achieve the best shape, no matter what the hair length. As seen here, the model’s brows are perfectly shaped with a clean, defined brow and softly arching shape that tapers naturally from the inside corner, to the tail of the brow. With the waxing technique, the Artist gives up some control of the process which is when the tell tale sign of waxing, the “hooked brow,” appears. As the Artist applies wax under the brow to clean and shape the arch, rather than a smooth even taper, the wax will spread when removed. This will create an inner corner that appears thick but transitions into an arch that looks dramatic and thin in comparison. Trying to avoid getting this hooked shape is not easy – Artists may wax the lid and then tweeze close to the brow to try to avoid the hook, but 9 times of out 10, the brow will definitely have a hooked effect. #2 LESS RISK TO SENSITIVE SKIN Threading is ideal for any type of skin, but especially for those with sensitive skin. Threading has little contact with the skin as the thread is gliding over the skin, rather than sticking to the skin. Waxing, however, coats the skin and hair, pulling both when the hair is removed. This “ripping” effect can cause sensitive skin to turn red and feel very tender. Another point to consider is that threading is 100% natural and uses a cotton string to remove hair, whereas even the most natural waxes can contain resins, preservatives, fragrances and ingredients that can cause sensitive skin to react negatively. #3 PREVENT PREMATURE SIGNS OF AGING The process of aging is beautiful, there’s no denying that and it happens to everyone. However, there are things that we do to our skin that can start the aging process earlier than it would otherwise start and regardless of whether or not it makes you look older, it usually isn’t very good for your skin. You guessed it, we’re talking about Eyebrow Waxing again. Waxing pulls the skin and the nature of wax removal can disrupt the delicate skin around the eyes and brows, especially if hot wax is being used. Though no scientific study exists, many people believe that repeated waxing can cause the skin to lose elasticity and may result in drooping lids, or fine lines around the eye area. When this happens, the shape of your face changes and in turn, so does the shape of your brows! Scientific proof or not, for the people who have waxed their brows and then moved to threading, the feel of the skin and brows is significantly better with threading. AND because the shape with threading is so precise, their brows remain natural and full, and their eyes appear more bright, open and youthful. Find these points helpful, or have a few more you’d like to share? We’d love to know! Take Care, Ziba Beauty xo

How-To Care For Your Eyebrows 101

So we’ve talked all about threading and the many benefits of threading your brows. We’ve even answered the most asked question by our new clients on the blog, “Does eyebrow threading hurt?” Today, we’re talking about how to take care of your brows, just like you would the rest of your body. The below steps are our essential eyebrow care tips that everyone should incorporate into their routine! #1 Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! If you don’t already moisturize your skin daily, we’re here to tell you that you’re doing your body a great injustice. Moisturizing is essential, especially for the face which is constantly exposed to the weather and air quality. No matter where you live, we recommend using a moisturizer with at least SPF 30 in it, to both keep your skin healthy and to protect it from the sun. Don’t be afraid to moisturize your brows either – the skin under them and around them also needs the TLC! Adding an SPF moisturizer to your daily routine will reduce your chances of premature aging, sun damage, fine lines and sagging skin – all of which can affect your eyebrow shape. #2 Condition those brow sisters We know it sounds odd but think about it this way… why do we use conditioner after shampooing our hair? Conditioner makes your hair smooth and restores its natural shine. It can also strengthen the hair to prevent breakage and hair loss. If you’re experiencing eyebrow hair-loss, chances are your brows might be in need of some serious conditioning. BUT you cannot use the same conditioner that you would use after shampooing – as this is not meant for your skin and can cause rashes and irritation. To condition your brows, we recommend using a Brow Conditioner in specific. While there are many options for purchase in stores, we believe that at-home brow conditioners work just as well, if not better than store bought ones and are a lot more affordable. Below are our recommendations based on what your brows need: To condition your brows: Use coconut oil To condition and grow your brows: Use castor oil You can also add Vitamin E oil to both the above, for an extra boost. Vitamin E oil helps blood circulation, in turn stimulating hair growth and is rich in antioxidants which helps with the conditioning factor! Use your oil of choice at least 3 times a week, on clean skin and brows (more if you need to grow your brows asap). To apply, use a clean disposable mascara brush or your fingers. #3 Maintain a regular threading schedule Life gets in the way sometimes and it can be hard to maintain an exact schedule for something like your brows. We still recommend trying to maintain as consistent a schedule as possible – which is something people tend not to do. When it comes to eyebrow threading, the technique is so great that it can be used when even the tiniest hairs start to show or when your brows are fully grown out. The problem with this, is that it becomes easy to neglect a regular schedule you can thread your brows no matter how long the growth is. The issue that arises is when you’ve achieved your optimum eyebrow shape – threading too soon or waiting too long can actually hurt the brows it’s taken you so long to perfect. If you wait too long, you can lose your shape completely and getting your brows back to the way you like them, may take both your Brow Artist and yourself a lot of time. Similarly, if you get your brows done too early, it’s easy to thin out the shape because you think all the little hairs need to be removed, which is not necessarily the case. Our recommendation: ask your Brow Artist to tell you what the best time frame is, for you to come back into your Ziba Studio and try to stick to within a week of that frame. For example, if your Ziba Brow Artist suggests a 4-week period between brow appointments, we recommend not going earlier than 3 weeks and later than 5 weeks. These essential eyebrow care tips can elevate your brow appearance and overall skin health immensely. They’re also really easy to implement and are tailor-made to fit into your lifestyle routine. Let us know if you try any of these out and if you have any recommendations of your own! Take Care, Ziba Beauty xo

The 5 Eyebrow Mistakes You Don’t Even Know You’re Making

When it comes to eyebrows you can easily make mistakes that can change your natural face symmetry, affect your skin, and mess up your makeup look. You don’t want your brows to distract from your natural beauty; in fact, the whole purpose of getting your eyebrows threaded or putting makeup on is to merely enhance what you already have – not change it! Here are our eyebrow tips to remember so you don’t end up sabotaging yourself. Trust us, after reading this you’ll be saying, thank u, next. Eyebrow Mistake #1: Making them identical Do not get sucked into a world where your eyebrows have to be identical. No two eyes are the same, so why should the brows be any different? When you try to make your eyebrows identical, you can end up taking off too much hair or too little. Naturally, your eyebrows are different – so trying to make them exactly the same will also make your brows look fake and harm the natural symmetry of your face. Eyebrows are soul sisters, not twins! Eyebrow Mistake #2: Choosing the wrong-color Brow Crayon   If you have dark hair, you don’t necessarily want to use a dark eyebrow crayon. Use a brow crayon that’s a shade lighter than your actual hair color. It will look more natural when applied because it’ll blend into the brow hair color you have, instead of adding more to the color, therefore making your brows appear harsh. Another tip? If you have highlights, match the crayon shade to the lighter strands of hair, for the most natural looking finish. Eyebrow Mistake #3: Using a magnifying mirror   Magnifying mirrors are great for precise makeup application and they’re also great for seeing if it’s time to get your brows threaded. BUT when it comes to hair removal, magnifying mirrors are not so great. If you HAVE to clean up your brows at home, be an arms-length distance from a normal mirror and use as much natural light as possible. If you view your brows too close-up, you lose perspective on how much hair you’ve already taken off and will keep removing the “tiny hairs” that you actually need, in order to keep your brow shape. Eyebrow Mistake #4: Eyebrow shaping before a shower or bath   If you’re going to bathe close to the time that you’re getting your brows threaded, it’s better to do it before you go to your Brow Artist. It’s no secret that removing eyebrow hairs can hurt – but a steamy shower will open up the pores and soften the brow follicles, so the hair glides out much easier. Bonus: This also helps limit redness and irritation! Eyebrow Mistake #5: Using the wrong product to fill-in your brows When it comes to eyebrow makeup, which mainly consists of filling in your brows, preference and usability of a product is usually the defining factor. While preference is probably based on comfort, what you like is not necessarily what is best for your brows. Shocking right, something we like isn’t really beneficial to us… it’s a human problem, we’ve accepted it. Moving on, the type of eyebrows you have can help you determine which product is best for you. If you only have a few spots where you’re missing eyebrow hairs – then a Brow Crayon is best for creating short hair-like strokes to fill-in those gaps. If you’re new to filling-in your brows or have larger sparse areas, then using a Brow Powder is going to benefit you most. This is because a brow powder gives you more control over where you apply color and the product is easier to blend, therefore creating a softer look. This is especially good for someone who isn’t completely confident in filling-in their brows. Do you have any tips for preventing eyebrow mishaps? Let us know in the comments! What Determines Your Eyebrow Shape?

Sometimes what you want from your eyebrows isn’t something you can get. And that has very little to do with who is doing your eyebrows, using which technique and more to do with the characteristics of your eyebrows. Do you know the characteristics of your brows? In order to get your optimum eyebrow shape, you should be able to tell your Brow Artist what you want. Although they are experts in determining your brow design, it’s comforting to be able to recognize it yourself and know that you’re in good hands when you and your Ziba Artist come to the same conclusions. A single eyebrow can be broken down into 6 different elements which help determine where the best placement for each brow is, in order to keep the symmetry of the face. So what are the elements? #1 The Beginning Point This is based on the inner corner of your eye. You can assess where the beginning of your brow should be, by holding a ruler vertically at the inner corner of the eye. The beginning point of the eyebrow is the point at which the ruler intersects the line of the eyebrow. If you have a gap within the vertical line, this tells you where you need to let your hair grow back or, where you need to fill-in your brow. If the brow hair goes past the vertical line and towards the center of your forehead, that’s the hair you need to have removed during your next threading appointment. Simple, right? #2 The High Point The High Point of the eyebrow, also known as the Arch, is where the highest part of your brow is. Sometimes however, due to eyebrow mishaps, our natural arch has been removed or messed with and therefore it can be difficult to place where the High Point is. A good way to recognize the High Point is by looking straight ahead and holding a ruler at the outside of your nostril, diagonally to where it crosses the outer edge of your Iris (see image below). The place where the ruler intersects the top of the eyebrow, is where your High Point should be – if it isn’t, you know what you and your Brow Artist need to work on! P.S. This does not mean your brow has to have a sharp arch or angle – this point tells you the maximum natural height your brow can achieve. #3 The End Point The ending point of your brow is important in keeping the balance of your face and rarely needs to be changed. To check on your end point, all you have to do is hold a ruler diagonally from the side of your nose to the outer corner of your eye and let it extend towards the eyebrow. The place where the ruler intersects the brow, is the end point of your brow. Knowing this point is important because it prevents the removal of any hair that can shorten your brow and affect the natural symmetry of your face. #4 The Arched or Round Brow Knowing the shape of your face is only ever a plus when it comes to your brows – if you’re not sure about your shape, ask your Ziba Brow Artist! They’ve been expertly trained to help you assess your face shape. Once you know your face shape, you can easily figure out what brow shape compliments your face the best. For example, a sharp, angular face shape calls for a more rounded brow to balance out all the facial elements and soften some of your features. Vice versa, a round or oval face shape works best with a sharper, arched brow to bring back dimension to the face. #5 The Eyebrow Length The optimum length of your eyebrow comes from two of the characteristic we discussed above! Measure the distance from The Beginning Point to The End Point you identified and the distance is the ideal length of your eyebrow. This measurement is the easiest to check if you’re ever feeling like your eyebrows look “off” and can help to avoid having a brow that’s too long or too short. #6 The Open or Closed End Point To determine if the end of your brow is open or closed, hold a ruler horizontally from the bottom of the beginning point and straight out. If the end of your eyebrow is above the horizontal line, then you have an open ended point. An open ended point gives the illusion of lengthening to the middle part of the face and lifts the top part of the face – which round face shapes will benefit from. If the end of the eyebrow is touching the imaginary horizontal line (ruler) then you have a closed end point. This point does not create any illusions and is the most common ending type! Those are the 6 elements contributing to your eyebrow shape and style! If you’re not sure about any of the elements or want to check you’ve made the right assessments – just ask your Ziba Brow Artist! Also, knowing these elements can help anyone who has trouble filling-in their brows significantly because you now know all the points and ends of your ideal brow!! Ziba Beauty also provides a service that can help you understand everything from your face shape to your brow shape called The Brow Fit! Ask one of our friendly front-desk staff about it the next time you’re checking into your Ziba Studio 🙂 Take Care, Ziba Beauty x

Does Eyebrow Threading Hurt?

If you’re asking this question, chances are that you’re a newbie to eyebrow threading – but fear not – we’re going to break it all down for you. Eyebrow threading is an ancient indian hair removal technique that we, at Ziba Beauty, swear by and all that’s involved is a piece of cotton thread! The thread is twisted around the Brow Artist’s fingers and pulled along areas of unwanted hair in order to grab the brow hairs directly from the root of the follicle. It’s completely natural and chemical-free, which is always a plus when it comes to your skin. So does it hurt? Yes and no. With any hair-removal technique there is always going to be some discomfort, threading however, is the least painful. This is because the hair is being removed from the root whereas with brow waxing, you’re feeling the pain of hair being pulled out plus the added pain of the skin being tugged on and the use of a sticky wax on sensitive parts of your skin, which doesn’t help. If you’ve ever tweezed your brows (it’s okay we’ve all been guilty of this at some point), you can think about the feeling of threading as being similar to plucking 5 hairs at once. It can kind of hurt but it also subsides just as quickly. Discomfort also depends on each individual person’s sensitivity and the area being threaded. For example, people find the top of their eyebrow being threaded, a lot less painful than the bottom of their brow. Luckily, there is a way to lessen the pain! When you’re having the under part of your brow threaded, your Brow Artist will show you how to hold your eyelid closed and stretch your skin with your fingers – a quick tip we have is to hold your skin tightly because the tighter your pull, the lesser the pain of threading is. So why do peoples’ eyes water if it doesn’t hurt that much? Our bodies have natural reactions already stored in us for certain situations. So if you’ve ever seen someone tearing up during their service, it’s less likely that it’s due to pain and more likely that the body is reacting to the sensitive skin areas being threaded. People who don’t feel any pain while getting their eyebrows threaded have also been known to tear up – it’s just the body’s way of telling you that something’s up and to be aware of it. If it hurts even a little bit, why do people still choose to get threaded? This is a great question and the best answer is RESULTS. People continue to get their brows and other facial hair threaded because the results they see, far outweigh any pain they might bear. The benefits of threading over other hair-removal techniques are tenfold and can be summed up with these key points: It’s chemical free. No liquids or harsh substances are being applied to the skin. It’s fast – an experienced artist can take 7 – 10 mins. The results are longer-lasting. Shaping the brows is much easier and more precise than any other brow shaping technique. Threading can remove even the smallest hairs, whereas with waxing you have to wait until the hair grows a certain length in order to have it removed. The skin isn’t being tugged and stretched by a wax and this can help avoid premature wrinkles and any scarring. The hair is being pulled straight from the follicle, so your skin stays in place. Threading can be performed on any parts of the face! AND the best reason of all – any discomfort or pain you feel the first time you get threaded, will start to lessen every time you get your brows done at Ziba. You will naturally get used to the feeling of threading and some people even enjoy it because it can feel like a massage. Furthermore, even within a single threading session, the pain you feel will decrease as your brow artist works their magic because your body simply gets used to the feeling. Still a little nervous? Don’t be! The Ziba Brow Artists are professionals who are expertly trained and have been certified to take care of your brows. We encourage you to let your artist know if you’re feeling nervous about getting your brows threaded and rest assured, they’ll do everything they can to make it as comfortable as possible for you. Wait, there’s more; if you’re still unsure or have a friend or teenager at home who wants to get their brows done but is scared it’ll hurt – we have a service catered just to you and them called: The Virgin Brow. The Virgin Brow is meant for first time eyebrow shapers and is a consultative and transformational service. It begins with a thorough consultation, including facial measurements and concludes with Ziba’s Signature Finish. The package includes 3 Brow Appointments which is perfect for nervous first-timers because it allows the Brow Artist to take the extra time to explain threading to the client. In addition, the client has 3 services to get used to the feeling of threading; so for example, the first service could be focused on the top of the brow and the second service, the bottom. By the time the client gets to the last service, they will be far more comfortable than they were and have had the time: to get used to the feeling, to get to know their brow artist AND to figure out what their ideal brow shape is and how long it takes for their eyebrow hair to grow between sessions. For $49 it’s a win win win situation – all you have to do is call your local Ziba Studio to make an appointment! If you want to see threading performed in-person before making an appointment, you are more than welcome to join us at any of our Studios. We can also help you talk to other customers about their brow experiences. Of course, our staff and artists will

Brows We Covet

As much as we like to avoid them, trends are present in every industry, platform and social circle. The problem with trends is that they come and go and you’re usually stuck with something you’re never going to use, wear or want again. However, when it comes to eyebrow trends, we’re here to make sure that you don’t make any brow altering decisions! Today we’re showing you the brows we covet and how to achieve them with help from Ziba’s expert Brow Artists. The Bold Brows The best part about the emergence of bold brows in the last decade, is the fact that they represent the embracing of natural beauty. Natural Beauty Begins at Ziba, where we shape your brows according to your unique facial structure, which eliminates the chance of thinning out the brows and helps you maintain your natural shape. If you’re trying to grow out your brows – we recommend massaging castor oil onto your brows in between your eyebrow threading appointments to stimulate hair growth! You can also use our eyebrow crayon to fill-in any sparse areas you may have, while your brows are still growing! Here are some of our favorite Bold Brows for inspo: Lily Collins Kaia Gerber The Straight Brows We know, we know… you love a good brow arch BUT sometimes, your brow hair just doesn’t grow in a way to allow you to achieve the arch you want and that’s okay! We’re here to tell you about Straight Brows aka the brows you didn’t know you wanted. First up, if you have an oval or long face shape, straight brows are going to compliment you the best. They’re also the easiest to maintain and all your Ziba Brow Artist has to do is clean up the top of your brow and maintain your brow tail, to allow you to get the perfect straight shape. Straight brows are also natural to most people and the easiest to achieve, even if you have made the mistake of over-plucking in the past – just let them grow naturally. While they’re growing, use a brow powder to softly draw a straight line, starting from the bottom inner part of the brow to the tail. Then use the brush to blend the product up into your brows to create the illusion of straight brows. Need some examples? Here are some of the best straight brows we’ve seen: Dua Lipa Zoë Kravitz  The High Arch Brows Arched brows are the most popular type of brows requested by Ziba clients – they’re also the hardest to maintain. Luckily, our artists are experts at guiding you in how to achieve the perfect arch through eyebrow threading and professional tips on where your brows need some growth. Fun fact: High Arched brows are also extremely flattering if you have a round shaped face. Confused about your face shape? Ask one of the Ziba Artists to help you out – each artist has been specially trained to recognize your face shape, can measure your brows and tell you exactly what shape will suit you the most. Back to arched brows – these might take you a little longer to achieve and require more maintenance but they’ll also make your eyes more prominent and make your eye makeup stand out too! Here are some high-arches we covet: Lucy Hale Jasmine Sanders What’s your favorite brow trend? Would you ever try the braided brows?! We wanna know your thoughts! Share your comments with us.

Eyebrow Threading or Waxing? Ziba Beauty Glendale Galleria Answers!

What’s the best method for shaping your eyebrows? Ziba Beauty Glendale Galleria answers this key question for you. For years, the most available method of shaping eyebrows was waxing.  As threading has become a more easily found option, the question is, which is better – eyebrow threading or waxing? Though both shaping methods can produce beautiful results, as a company who specializes in The Art of Threading, here’s what our brow experts and clients are saying their top 3 reasons are for choosing the ancient hair removal technique of The Art of Threading, as their top choice. 1.  Best Brow Shape Threading gives the Brow Artist complete control and precision. The Artist is able to remove a single hair, or line of hairs to achieve the best shape. As seen here, the model’s brows are perfectly shaped with a clean, defined brow and soft, arching shape that tapers naturally from the inside corner to the tail of the brow. With waxing, the Artist gives up some control and very often, a tell tale sign of waxing is a “hooked brow”. As the Artist smoothes wax under the brow to clean and shape the arch, rather than a smooth even taper, the wax will spread. When removed, the wax will create an inner corner that appears thick that transitions into an arch that looks dramatic and thin.  To try to avoid this hooked shape, Artists may wax the lid and then tweeze close to the brow, but 9 times of out 10 the shape will definitely have a hooked effect. 2.  Less Skin Reaction Threading is ideal for sensitive skin. Threading has little contact with the skin as the thread is gliding over the skin. Waxing however coats the skin and hair, pulling both, when the hair is removed.  This “ripping” effect can cause sensitive skin to turn red and feel very tender.  Another point to consider is that threading uses a cotton string to remove hair, whereas even the most natural waxes can contain resins, preservatives, fragrances and ingredients that can cause sensitive skin to react. 3. Accelerated Signs Of Aging Waxing pulls the skin and the nature of wax removal can disrupt the delicate skin around the eyes and brows.  Though no scientific study exists, many people believe that repeated waxing can cause the skin to lose elasticity and may result in drooping lids, or a more aged looking eye area, before its time.  Scientific proof or not, for the women who have waxed and then moved to threading, they feel the skin of the lids and brows is in better condition with threading than with waxing.  AND because the shape with threading is so precise, their brows appear natural and full and their eyes, even brighter, open and youthful.
