If Paris Fashion week is any indicator – bold, beautiful statement brows are the “IT” accessory of the year! Eyebrows are poised to be the hottest trend in makeup, framing the face and accentuating the look of timeless, natural beauty.
So, how do you acheive and maintain statement brows?
First, statement brows are all about the right shape. Thicker, natural-looking brows give a more youthful appearance to the face, so resist any temptation to go thin with your eyebrows. If you have overshaped your brows, allow them to fill in for 2-3 weeks, and then reshape to a fuller appearance. You also want to ensure you have a smooth, uniform, arching brow. Whether its a rounded brow best for square faces, or a more angled brow to compliment a round or oval face, the idea is thickness that gently tapers towards the tail of the brow.
Once you have achieved the ideal shape, a great brow finish is the key to maintaining a statement brow.
Here are our top 3 recommendations from the brow artists at Ziba Beauty:
- Groom: Unruly brows happen, and just like the hair on your head, brow hair can be tamed too! We recommend the Multi Task Brush as the ideal grooming tool. Separate brow hair with the comb, groom your brows into place with the bristle brush, and blend brow powders or pencils with the angled tip brush.
- Define: If you have naturally thin brow, choose The Brow Trio to create a natural brow. Brow powder paints the skin behind the brow, so it adds an instant dimension that is still natural looking. If you are looking to fill in or correct your brow, The Brow Crayon may be your best choice to create fine, hairlike strokes that mimic your natural brow. We love both by our Ziba Signature Collection.
- Hold: Once you have groomed and defined your brows, to keep them in place all day, you need hold. The Finish Wax is a soft wax pencil that keeps brows in place all day without being sticky or stiff.
These three easy steps will gaurantee statement brows that stop traffic.
For years, the most available method of shaping eyebrows was waxing. As threading has become a more easily found option, the question is, which is better – threading or waxing?
Though both shaping methods can produce beautiful results, as a company who specializes in The Art of Threading, here’s what our brow experts and clients are saying their top 3 reasons are for choosing the ancient art of threading as their top choice.
1. BEST BROW SHAPE
Threading gives the Artist complete control and precision. The Artist is able to remove a single hair, or line of hair to achieve the best shape. As seen here, the model’s brows are perfectly shaped with a clean, defined brow and soft, arching shape that tapers naturally from the inside corner to the tail of the brow.
With waxing, the Artist gives up some control and very often, a tell tale sign of waxing is a “hooked brow”. As the Artist smoothes wax under the brow to clean and shape the arch, rather than a smooth even taper, the wax will spread when removed, will create an inner corner that appears thick that transitions into an arch that looks dramatic and thin. To try to avoid this hooked shape, Artists may wax the lid, and then tweeze close to the brow to try to avoid the hook, but 9 times of out 10, the shape with wax will definitely have a hooked effect.
2. LESS RISK OF SENSITIVITY
Threading is ideal for sensitive skin. Threading has little contact with the skin as the thread is gliding over the skin. Waxing however coats the skin and hair, pulling both when the hair is removed. This “ripping” effect can cause sensitive skin to turn red and feel very tender. Another point to consider is that threading uses a cotton string to remove hair, whereas even the most natural waxes can contain resins, preservatives, fragrances and ingredients that can cause sensitive skin to react.
3. ACCELERATED SIGNS OF AGING
Waxing pulls the skin, and the nature of wax removal can disrupt the delicate skin around the eyes and brows. Though no scientific study exists, many women believe repeated waxing can cause the skin to lose elasticity and may result in drooping lids, or a more aged looking eye area before its time. Scientific proof or not, for the women who have waxed and then moved to threading, they feel the skin of the lids and brows is in better condition with threading than with waxing. AND because the shape with threading is so precise, their brows are natural and full, and their eyes appear more bright, open and youthful. Especially for our beautiful baby-boomers, the trend in brows once was a thinner shape, and with frequent waxing and tweezing over time, they are finding the hair does not grow back. This can give even the most lovely faces a dated look.
If you are experiencing thin, overshaped brows, we recommend a brow growth serum, and then shaping by thread to keep your brows, and eyes looking young and beautiful!

A well groomed brow will compliment your face shape, open the eye area and give a clean, well kept appearance.
Though there are many methods available to shape brows, the ancient art form of threading remains the best for brows.
What is Threading?
Threading is a technique that uses cotton thread to remove hair from the follicle. The thread is twisted using a centuries old technique. When the artist moves the twists along the thread line, the twists catch and pull hair from the follicle. Because the artist is using thread vs a fabric cloth with wax as an example, she has complete control and visibility of the area targeted for hair removal, allowing her to remove a single hair, or a line of hair with amazing precision.
1. Threading is the most precise form of hair removal, the BEST method for shaping brows
2. Threading is gentle, making it ideal for sensitive skin
3. You can remove hair the moment new growth is visible, so brows can be kept very clean and well groomed
The most common feedback clients give about Threading over other hair removal techniques:
1. Not as painful as waxing
2. Hair grows back softer and thinner
3. Service is fast
4. No oily residue or break outs
5. Results last a long time
6. Gives a more natural shape
7. Threading removes new growth immediately, do not need to let hair grow back to a certain length

As a company that shapes over 1 million brows each year, we have seen the best and the worst of brows. Though we shape brows to compliment the persons facial shape and features, there is not doubt that as in most things worth loving, trends are in!
Audry Hepburn rocked a fuller brow, bringing both an element of confidence, and youth to her natural beauty. Her brows became a defining feature, helping to frame her face, and eyes to perfection.

We’ve watched closely as models such as Cara Delevingne brought big, dark brows back, becoming her trademark feature, and starting the modern brow trend of the bigger the better.

And in recent weeks, found flourishing on fashions runways, another brow trend is emerging, which is that of big brows left completely natural!

Though this bohemian trend is easily sported by the worlds most beautiful fashion models, for everyday, we feel groomed brows should prevail. Our advice? Go for the big brows, just keep them neat and in place, and enjoy the best a brow has to offer!

So what was the touch that started our hearts racing? Why, a touch of gold! As the global leader in body artistry, we understand the value of temporary body art. This simple application of gold lined vertically on the bottom lip was made to look like a lip ring, but without the hardware – which we completely appreciated as our runway to realway top choice.

This fall calls for a nude face, made beautiful with subtle hints of “flushed” color on the cheeks and lips. We love a groomed, yet very natural brow to help frame the face in the absence of more dramatic eyeshadow.

There are many ways to get this look, and if you are already a fan of Sumita Beauty, then check out Sona Mini Contrast Pencil. Inspired by pure gold, this liner will give gorgeous color as an accent to the lip, and also works brilliantly to highlight and accentuate the eyes. Making it even more irresistable, is that its a mini eyeliner – you can carry it in your handbag to refresh your look as needed all day….and all night.
To a fall filled with all that glitters is gold!
This summer, the look of liner is heating up with the temperatures! The colors are bold and your imagination is the limit when it comes to eyeliner trends. Regardless of the look you want to rock, its always good to start with the basics. And, for eyes, its how to maximize the beauty of your eyes based on their shape.
Here are a few tips to try:
1. Round Eyes
Zoey Deschanel’s round eyes are a stunning feature. Though her look is often mod-inspired, to get the most out of a round eye shape, its best to accentuate the outside corner of your lash line to make your eyes appear longer. Starting with the upper lash line, draw a thin line from the inner corner that becomes thicker as you approach the outer corner of the eye. To get her look, line and smudge the lower lashes, again concentrating the color focus towards the outer corner of the eye to extend the appearance of the eye.

3. Hooded Eyes
Blake Lively calls the best attention to her eyes with heavier liner on top, and lighter on the bottom. To get her look, tilt your head back for an easier angle while looking in the mirror and line the upper lashes fully. For hooded eyes, though the upper lashes are enhanced, lashes are also a key accessory. The longer the better!

4. Close Set Eyes
For eyes that sit closely together, you want to apply makeup in a way that makes the eyes appear longer and farther apart. To do this, it’s all about adding color to the outer half of the lashes. Look directly into a mirror, and starting from the center of your pupil, line the lashes in an increasingly thicker line towards the outer corner.

5. Wide Set Eyes
Think color first for this beautiful eye shape. Brown, bronze and neutrals are excellent choices. Apply eyeliner to the top and bottom lashes and blend. Avoid extending the line past the outer corner to keep eyes more balanced and closer set.

Even though the Good Housekeeping seal was first created in 1909, after 105 years, Good Housekeeping has kept their sterling reputation as an organization committed to bringing the finest consumer products to their readers, as well as advice and wisdom from influencers and authorities around the world.
When their readers wanted to know how to get their Brows to WOW, Good Housekeeping called Sumita Batra, CEO of Ziba Beauty|Sumita Beauty. She recommends to have brows shaped professionally, and in between, for any stray hairs, tweezing can be an option to keep the brows looking clean. However, there is a method you will want to follow…..
SUMITA’S TWEEZING TIP: Keep brows level when tweezing. If you lift your brows, it distorts their shape and you can take too much from the arches and ends, which will result in a poorly shaped brow.
NEED A BROW FIX?
Try Ziba Signature Collection Eyebrow Crayon. Designed with a hard textured wax and oval tip, it creates hairlike strokes that mimic real hair and fill in, correct and define brows perfectly.

We shape over 1 million brows each year, and over the past 25 years, we’ve built an expertise when it comes to brows. We believe the best way to shape is by facial structure, and we also believe in listening to the client in terms of her preference when it comes to shape. By providing an informative, professional consultation, our client not only has the best brows by her face shape, but also feels confident and pampered.
With so much experience at our fingertips, we asked our artists if there were any defining characteristics when it came to brows that gave insight into the clients personality. Afterall, there are organizations and many highly trained specialists who devote their career to the study of facial expressions and characteristics.
Here’s a few of our most common brow types, and what our Artists had to say.

A fuller brow is all the rage right now. We believe a fuller brow gives a more youthful appearance to any face, and also is a sign of confidence and strength. To rock fuller brows properly, you must ensure they are kept groomed, which can also be a sign of a personality that pays close attention to detail and is consistent. One important note: there is a fine line with fuller brows – without consistent grooming one can go from well kept to unkempt, so be mindful!
OVERLY THIN BROWS
as seen in aubrey.buzznet.com
A thin, often over shaped brow can cause a woman to look dated, and in most every case, can be unflattering on even the most beautiful women. Too thin brows may be associated with a personality that has a tendency to be over the top with grooming, which below the surfce may mean a lack of self confidence. We recommend to every client who has come to us with over-shaped, thinner brows that she let grow a bit, ease back into a more natural looking brow. It’s less effort to maintain, and also changes the appearance of the brow just enough to better frame the face and reflect a personality that loves beauty, but is not overly aggressive in its pursuit.

It is our recommendation that the arch of a brow is determined by the face shape. A high arch will often mean a more angular brow, so its important to know your facial shape so as to not lose the softness and femininity of the face with too many angles. In our experience, whether the client has a naturally high arch, or she prefers one, a higher arch lends itself to a more determined personality type. The high arch is inquisitive and authoritative, so she can appear as if she as an inside track or knowledge that can keep anyone in a conversation with her both captivated and intrigued – wondering what she may know that they may not!
as seen on kissandmakeup.tv
A soft arch is more rounded, with a softer curve under the peak of the brow. This is an ultra feminine shape, and usually denotes a personality that is kind and open, and also confident. Women with soft arches will often seem friendly and easy to get along with. A soft arch can also suggest a flirtatious disposition with a fun nature.

Flat brows are best for long face shapes to help pull the focus from the length of the face to the widgh of the face, balancing out its symmetry. With that said, high fashion has used the flat brow shape to compliment collections in an avante garde way to perfection. Flat brows are often indicative of a person who is very logical and thoughtful. They are focused and serious as well as easily capable of great laughter and wit. So, whether you are are on the catwalk or the sidewalk, women with flat brow shapes are definitely ones to make an impresssion!
We’ve put our personality by brow shape to the test, and its been remarkably fun for our Artists, and our clients as well! The most important element for us remains, a happy, confident client with the best brows for her face shape.
Wondering what your brows say about you? Use these descriptions and check your brows out in the nearest mirror – we’d love to know what you discover!
Big, bold brows are a hot trend right now – but don’t let bushy, unruly brows bring you down! Statement brows have moved away from thin and sculpted look to fuller, more natural brows.
Here are 7 tips you MUST know about eyebrow grooming.
1. SHAPE UP Model Cara Delavigne’s dark, full brows truly started a trend in the world, but you’ll notice that her full brows are also well shaped. Trust shaping to a professional. Threading is a centuries old art form that uses thread to quickly and precisely remove unwanted hair from the brow area. Because you are able to target a single hair, or line of hair, threading is the best way to shape brows.
2. DONT FORGET TO BRUSH Brow hair can grow in many different directions. The key is to brush your brows into place. Just like you can tame your hair to fall a certain way, you can help tame your brows with consistent brushing. Our favorite tool? Multi Task Brush. This 5-in-1 Brush features a comb to separate brows, as well as an angled brush to groom them into place.
3. FILL IN THE BLANKS Even full brows can use a little definition. We recommend 2 ways for defining the brows – Brow Pencil or Brow Powder. Brow Pencil is ideal if you are looking to simply fill in, correct or define brows. Brow Powder is best when you have sparse brows and need to create a brow shape as it shades the skin, which also makes it an excellent choice for amplifying the brows further. Alexander McQueen gave his models faces the ideal frame by using Brow Powder to shade the skin behind well shaped brows.

Brow Pencil can be used to perfection as with the right formula, it creates precise, hairlike strokes. Harpers Bazaar featured this bold brow look from Valentino. Though her brows are full, with a few strokes of a Brow Pencil, the brows remain natural looking, but also more defined. Sumita Beauty Brow Pencil is an excellent choice because of its precision, using a hard, textured wax with an oval tip and smearproof formula.
as seen on Harper’s Bazaar
4. GET YOUR GROOM ON Brushing your brows grooms them into place, and once you have your brows where you want them – dont forget to keep them place! A soft wax pencil like the The Finish Wax has been a top pick in Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan because it holds brows in place without being sticky or stiff.
5. THE RIGHT KIND OF HIGHLIGHT Fast growth between visits and a need to accentuate the brow bone are two top reasons women love The Hi-Lite Pearl. The Hi-Lite Pearl leaves a soft, shimmery highlight under and around the brow to accentuate its shape. Due to the reflective properties of the formula, it also helps to hide new growth between visits, so brows look crisp and clean.
As you can see on the model above featured in Harpers Bazaar from the Valentino show, by adding a highlight above the brow and below along the brow bone, the models brows are perfectly framed and accentuated. The artist for this model also used a highlighing powder, which you can see on the cheeks and nose. Our Hi-Lite Pearl can also be used on the cheekbone’s and bridge of the nose for a radiant effect. And, who doesn’t love multi-benefit products!
6. KNOW WHEN TO COVER UP Imperfections along the brow line happen. Sun exposure and environmental factors can influence the look of the skin, especially in the pronounced brow area. To create the perfect canvas, and conceal any imperfections, we recommend The Conceal Light. Similar to the effect achieved by the artist at the Alberta Ferreti show, this unique pencil blends away discoloration, and doubles as a shadow primer! You will love the way your eyes look when you have a flawless complexion looking back at you!
The Sumita Brow Pencil was listed as 5 Great New Brow Groomers by UK Cosmo magazine. Check out the new and improved formula on this beloved product, now called The Brow Crayon!
For centuries, the temporary body art form known as Mehndi has been seen around the world as a blessing, believed to bring the wearer happiness and wealth. And who better to be blessed than a bride-to-be? What’s more, these age-old beauty practices have recently received a sparkling update. Now accented with shimmering crystals and jewels, the modern mehndi trend, known as Glitter Mehndi, is drawing the attention of fashion-forward celebs like Madonna, Gwen Steffani, and Hilary Duff. Major fashion houses like Chanel and Giambattista Valli even sent their models down the spring runways adorned with glittering body art accents on their brows, lashes, and skin. That’s right, mehndi is no longer just a blessing — it’s now a fashion statement too.
A bachelorette weekend or night is the perfect time to test this coveted runway look in real life. One rule of thumb to keep in mind: less is more. When it comes to sporting temporary body art, keep the look modern by keeping the accents to just one area of your body.
Here are three modern mehndi looks to try at your next bachelorette party:
1. Bindi jewels. Bright, bold eyeliner colors are all the rage this summer, so why not give that modern smoky eye an exotic boost with a jeweled or beaded bindi? These enchanting accents are certain to capture the light on the dance floor, as well as the attention of everyone around. Bindis are also fun to wear on unexpected areas of the body, like on the wrists or fingers.
2. A single sparkling body art piece. Contemplating how to liven up your wardrobe for your bachelorette party? Try wrapping your arm with dazzling body art pieces to create the illusion of a one-of-a-kind bracelet or cuff. Already have a bracelet? Try adorning a shoulder or the base of the back to set off that low draped dress or halter top. Or give your favorite pair of heels an update by wrapping a self-adhering body art piece around the ankle to create a sparkling accent.
3. Embellished mehndi. If you are a fan of the whimsical and intricate designs of traditional mehndi, which usually adorn the palms of hands, you can give your look an eye-catching edge with the help of a single jewel. A flowering vine design on the hands and feet (a traditional symbol of devotion and enlightenment) with a few subtle jeweled accents adds a fun, fantastic update to a traditional look.
Those crazy outfits, throw-away veils and sashes are a dime a dozen. Instead of looking like every other bride-to-be in the club, stand out and shine like the star you are. No matter which glitter mehndi design you choose, you can be sure to dazzle the crowd.
